Charity Rock Night in aid of Period Poverty.
Given to Shine
The Given To Shine project educates and empowers schoolgirls regarding their periods, breaking down barriers and taboo and offers them ten years worth of sanitary protection. Period poverty can affect any menstruating person at any time, with sufferers being forced to use makeshift pads from toilet roll, socks, newspaper and rags; with many missing school and work. A recent survey conducted by Wrexham Council highlighted that during academic year 2017/18, 28% of high school girls and 38% of primary school girls missed school due to their periods, with 19% missing 10 or more days. This means young girls are not only suffering from the indignity of period poverty but they’re missing their education as a result! With your support, we can get sanitary products to even more young women, allowing them to reach their full potential.
