Fact: Guitar hero Gilby Clarke played in both Guns N’ Roses and the MC5. Who else can claim membership in two of the most life-altering rock ’n’ roll outfits to ever exist on the planet? Huh? But none of that overshadows the fact this guitarist, singer and songwriter was a 17-year-old punk from Cleveland whose Hollywood back alley dues were paid in full. Before joining the Guns N Roses circus, Gilby was Kim Fowley’s go-to session guitarist and ghost writer. It was Kim that urged Gilby to join Candy, an established Hollywood band looking for a new guitarist. With Gilby now aboard, Candy signed with Mercury and was on their way. Candy was a little early for the Sunset Strip takeover and Gilby’s rough n’ ready guitar style was better suited for the big riff quartet Kill For Thrills. Gilby signed as a writer to Virgin America and Kill For Thrills signed with MCA Records, then a late night call from Slash changed everything. Gilby joined Guns in ’91. Private planes and diplomatic immunity followed. He appeared on the band’s Spaghetti Incident, Live Era ’88-’91 and The Greatest Hits albums. Gilby spent years on the Use Your Illusion tour in the 90s, but his proudest moment is the Gilby Rolls mode on the GNR pinball machine. If u can get him to talk, he may admit the 2012 Rock N Roll Hall of Fame induction performance was fun. After Guns imploded, armed only with his Les Paul, Gilby went back to Virgin and launched his solo career. Receiving critical winks for his albums Pawnshop Guitars, The Hangover, Rubber, 99 Live and Swag. Recording and/or touring over the lean years with Nancy Sinatra, Heart, The MC5 & his old bandmate Slash’s Snakepit, Gilby even snuck in videos with GNR, Michael Jackson and Fall Out Boy when MTV was de rigeur. Perhaps you saw him starring alongside Tommy Lee on the CBS TV show Rockstar: Supernova or VH1 Honors with Rob Zombie and Ace Frehely ? Clarke currently splits his services with Kings of Chaos led by Matt Sorum and an all-star alumni that features Steven Tyler, Joe Elliot and Gene Simmons and his solo band. Clarke, who’s an old school mash-up of Keef, Johnny Thunders, and B.B. King, continues to write fist-jacking rock ’n’ roll songs with fat choruses, and appear on stages around the globe. He produces worthy bands too. He’s also one of the sweetest gents you’ll ever meet. He’s a guitar hero, certainly, but also a gentleman whose heart happens to rush at rock ’n’ roll speed.

The Real People – Friday 28th May 2027

The Real People, pioneers of the 90’s Brit pop movement, were formed by Tony and Chris Griffiths in 1988.

Signed to CBS in Dec 1989 they released their eponymously named debut album including the singles Window Pane, Open Up Your Mind and The Truth in 1991.

The band then embarked on a series of successful British, European, American and Japanese tours, also appearing at Glastonbury and supporting major artists such as The Pixies, David Bowie and Inspiral Carpets to name a few.

The Realies (as they are known to their fans) then recorded their second album Marshmallow Lane with the help of legendary producer Jimmy Miller (Rolling Stones etc). This album provided the Top 40 single ‘Believer’.

Whilst touring with Inspiral Carpets, Chris and Tony took the then Inspirals roadie Noel Gallagher under their wing, along with his brother Liam and the rest of Oasis. The Real People invited Oasis into their studio to develop and record the new band, resulting in the now famous Live Demonstration Tape which subsequently secured them a major deal with Alan McGee and Creation Records. Once signed by Creation, Chris and Tony were instrumental in the recording of Oasis’ first single ‘Supersonic’, with Tony providing the backing vocals. Chris also co-wrote the B-side to ‘Roll With It’ entitled ‘Rockin’ Chair’ which helped set Oasis on the path to becoming world wide stars and the biggest band of the past 30 years. The Real People also inspired several other Oasis songs such as ‘Columbia’ and ‘Don’t Go Away’ (a BBC News item about the relationship between the The Realies and Oasis is attached below).

Around this time Chris and Tony continued writing and developing other artists – including writing a Top 10 single for Cher and others.

In 1996 The Real People signed to MGL Records and released their third album ‘What’s On The Outside’ which included the singles ‘Rolling Stone’, ‘Rayners Lane’ and ’People In The Telly’. The band also embarked on tours including numerous tours with their good friends Ocean Colour Scene, Paul Weller and Simple Minds.

The Real People continued writing and touring for the next few years resulting in their now cult following and new albums ’Think Positive’ and ‘Monday Morning Breakdown’.

TRIXTER — NEW JERSEY HAIR-METAL LEGENDS! Straight outta New Jersey and formed in 1983, Trixter are one of the defining bands of the late-’80s/early-’90s American hard-rock scene. (AllMusic) After years cutting their teeth on the New Jersey and New York club circuit, the band signed with MCA Records and exploded onto the scene with their self-titled debut album in 1990. And what a debut it was. The album went Gold in the US, reached No. 28 on the Billboard 200, and delivered a string of classic rock anthems including “Give It to Me Good,” “One in a Million” and “Surrender.” (AllMusic) Trixter quickly found themselves sharing stages with some of the biggest names in rock, while their videos became regular fixtures on MTV during the glory days of hair metal. Formed in the UK in 1990, we were Europe’s FIRST tribute to KISS; and are the Worlds longest-running KISS Tribute band.
Happy 35th Anniversary to us!
We’re the ONLY KISS tribute band (in the world) to conduct extensive tours of the UK (& N.I.), Europe, Scandinavia and Japan
We remain the ONLY KISS tribute in Europe to be used to launch and promote KISS product releases (KISS Alive III, KISS Konfidential, Psycho Circus, Sonic Boom, Monster) and tours (Psycho Circus, Sonic Boom, Monster).
We’ve been the ‘Grand Finalé’ to almost all UK & European KISS conventions & Expo’s since 1993; and have been joined onstage by Peter Criss, Mark St John, Bruce Kulick, and Eric Singer. We could’ve added Ace Frehley (had he not been so ‘spaced’) and Vinnie Vincent (had he turned up!). Of great note is the time Bill Aucoin (KISS’ Manager from ‘73-‘81) asked us if he could help us load our van after our performance at the Nottingham Expo in 2006 – we very very graciously and politely refused, so instead he called Paul Stanley to tell him how great he thought we were.
……And we were asked to be involved with, and perform in ‘Gene Simmons:Rock School’
