The HotRods / Department S – Friday 26th June 2020

Eddie & the HotRods became a household name in the summer of 1977 when their anthem ‘Do Anything You Wanna’ Do spent 6 weeks in the Top Ten. The band had already had their groundbreaking live ep Live at the Marquee hit the Top 40, they had toured the USA with The Ramones and introduced young up starts Squeeze as a support act on their summer madness tour. They were considered by many including the late Joe Strummer of The Clash as the band responsible for Punk.

Over a 40 year period the band had many line up changes but from 2000 until present the line up remained the same, again they toured the world .

In August 2019 the band opened for fellow punk legends Stiff Little Fingers here at The Tivoli.

The band return as The HotRods as they embark on a year long memorial tour in memory of their original singer Barrie Masters who sadly died in October 2019.

Joining The HotRods are Post Punk/ New wave band Department S who are celebrating the 40thanniversary of their huge hit single ‘Is Vic There?’

The band now fronted by original keyboard player Eddie Roxy had two top 30 hit singles in 1980 – 81. They toured as support for The Jam and were one of the most promising acts of the 80’s, unfortunately internal disagreements and the collapse of their record company Stiff saw the band collapse.
